Steel Panthers is a tactical wargame set in World War II. Units are squads, support weapons teams and individual vehicles, battles are fought on hexagonal maps.
Designed by Gary Grisby, the game has its roots in board wargaming and aims to be highly realistic as well as easily playable. It has been compared to the Squad Leader/Advanced Squad Leader board wargames for its depth of simulation and variety of scenarios.
The game includes historical battles, campaigns linking several battles together, several what if scenarios, as well as map editor and an encyclopedia describing the forces of over a hundred countries for creating scenarios and campaigns.
