From publisher blurb:
Peering into the cave's yawning mouth, you think for a moment you hear screaming.
Cresting the next hill, you see sand dunes in every color you can imagine, turquoise and purples blending with oranges and reds.
The slaughterhouse's machinery is dark and silent as you search for the fleeing mastermind, and then, with a creak - the gears begin to move, trapping you.
This 85-pg book is designed to be an easy enhancement for the exploration and combat pillars of your game. It contains 40 microsettings that can be dropped into your game at a moment's notice, each with 1-2 paragraphs of description appropriate for most fantasy settings.
In addition, each setting comes with an exploration challenge that relates to it - or can be mixed-and-matched as you see fit. If you're not familiar with exploration challenges, they're an innovation of Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition that combines a skill challenge with a monster stat block, providing flexible, easy-to-run exploration encounters that will challenge your players without ever having to roll initiative.
Still, combat is part of the fun - and each setting also includes a unique monster (or sometimes multiple!) that could populate the setting or, again, mix-and-match. From jotuns to brain slugs to the feared Endbringer itself, there's plenty here to terrify your table. Each monster is designed with the Level Up philosophy in mind, ensuring they'll be fun and dynamic to run. Both exploration challenges and monsters are indexed at the back for ease of access. Run a combat and an exploration challenge one after the other, or simultaneously to increase the difficulty and create an encounter to remember.
This book is compatible with regular 5th edition, but it's designed to run with the Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition system. Never played Level Up? Don't worry! The back of the book contains appendices to bridge the gap, ensuring that the volume is truly compatible with both editions.
