North of Weiden, between the Red Crescent, the Neunaugensee and the Salamandersteine, lies the Hardorp plane. So far, none of the neighbors were interested in the barren land, known for its dust storms. That is changing, as a Knight of Donnerbach lays claim to this no man's land. Indeed she failed the first attempt to colonize the plane, but the knight is determined to lead the company in a second attempt to succeed.

The project is controversial and even the duke-priest Aldare VIII Donnerhall of Donnerbach is skeptical. Unlike her heir Thali who supports the efforts of some families of Donnerbach. From the city from at the Gorothir to the settlers should move to the plane, but this time with the support of young professionals who are eager to face the perils of the plane - real heroes.

They will help with the construction of a new settlement and establish independent trade contacts with Norbardic dealers and the mining town Uhdenberg. They'll penetrate deep into the mysteries of the plane, and finally even fathom the mystery of the harsh and inhospitable nature of this land. Their investigations lead them to places that have deep roots in the past of the region, and drive them into the clutches of a being that has long fallen prey to oblivion.
