Traveller Freeform Rules
cover tag:
Play the 1st edition like a true space hero
from the introduction:
The rules in the Traveller Classic books are tools for the referee. If you need them, use them. If not, then there's absolutely no reason to use them.
Characteristics (strength, dexterity, endurance, intelligence, education, and social standing) are the only numbers on the character sheet.
user summary:
A lighter rules system for playing Classic Traveller. Modifiers are at the referee's discretion, weapons and armour are simplified, alternate rules for vehicles, it still uses the lifepath generation but modifiers are ignored in favour of referee interpretation.
Another alternate rules-light system (Arneson-style) is also described. Characteristics are rolled but only recorded as below-average, avergae, or above average. Characters follow lifepath generation but only the skills earned are recorded, not the numbers. Characters have 4 hits, referee dtermines number of hits suffered in combat.
