Sword & Scoundrel is a game that easily lends itself to mature themes and complicated subject matter. It is designed to emulate a kind of story-telling where moral gray areas are the norm and pushing characters to their limits can take you to dark places. This is natural and expected. Role-playing can be a great and healthy way to explore and experience topics that you would never want to deal with in real life. However, such content needs to be handled with care. While playing a character in a fictional setting may give you an extra sense of security and emotional distance, for some players and for some topics, it might not be enough.
