"Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her; but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game." (Voltaire)
You understand that magic is a configuration of chaos. It is the random shuffling of the deck. And it is the ordered display of cards on a table. So how do you make sense of it? If you were a cleric, then you would say it's god's will. But you're no cleric. As a sorcerer, you know that the spell cannot be separated from the spellcaster. Magic is personal. And some have the gift more than others.
Since a young age, you've had a talent for prophecy, seeing portents in the sky, at the roadside or even at the bottom of a cup. But the cards, oh, the cards opened your eyes fully to the possibilities of magic.
Tarot Card Reader Sorcerer
Your skill as a sorcerer is inextricably linked to the deck of Tarot Cards in your hands. When you cast a spell, there is a good chance that the cards will have something to say about it. What card will it? Will it be the "Young Lovers", "Wheel of Fortune" or "Death" himself. In any case, there is an awesome table for you to roll on to determine what happens.
Then again, you do always have a card up your sleeve, the "Joker", who can help you get out of a sticky situation if you don't like what the cards are telling you.
And your Tarot Deck doesn't just enhance combat, you can also use them to help persuade NPCs and to give guidance to your companions.
Finally, this new subclass gives you a new metamagic option "Forecasting Spell" where you use your powers of prophecy to anticipate your enemies move.
Don't worry. We've consulted the cards, and they said you would love it! I mean, who doesn't want to have a go at playing a mystic or recreating Gambit from X-men!
