Description

Tengai Makyō: Ziria is the first game in the "Far East of Eden" RPG series. Initially released in 1989, it was one of the first titles published for NEC's PC Engine CD-ROM system and the very first J-RPG to be released on the CD-ROM format. The game's graphical style takes noticeable inspiration from the original Dragon Quest on the Famicom while the characters are all based off the Japanese folktale Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari.

Around the time when the first sequel came out in 1992, Hudson re-released Ziria with new cover artwork. This versions requires a Super CD-ROM to run despite the contents of the disc being identical to the original release.

The game also received a complete 3D remake in 2006 for the Xbox 360 featuring HD anime cutscenes and using the engine from Tengai Makyō III: Namida.
