Doch mit ihren Herren ging auch Thalassa im Krieg der Magier unter und wurde ein Opfer der Wut von Dämonen und des Tobens der Elemente.
Heute leben wieder Menschen in Thalassa, dem Schandfleck Chryseias, wie die Stadt jetzt genannt wird. Ihre Bewohner seien nichts als unehrliches Volk, das andernorts nicht geduldet wird, und selbst der geheimnisvolle Herrscher der Stadt sei nur ein Bettlerkönig.
Doch täuschen sich die Spötter, doch obwohl Thalassa eine Zuflucht für Bettler, Schmuggler und Diebe ist, gibt es auch ganz normale Fischer, Händler und Handwerker, und der unsichtbare Bettlerkönig sorgt aus dem Hintergrund für Ordnung. Hinter dem Anschein von Normalität lauern aber auch dunkle Geheimnisse. Zu Recht für ihre Schreckenstaten verbannte Zauberer, Adlige und Anhänger finsterer Mächte finden hier Asyl. Furchtbare Zauber und Dämonen aus der Zeit der Seemeister sind noch immer in den Ruinen aktiv. Und hinter dem Mysterium des Bettlerkönigs stecken der Fluch einer Göttin und das Wirken weitaus älterer Mächte. All das kann aber nicht die Schatzsucher abschrecken, die für die verlockende Aussicht auf Reichtümer und einzigartige Artefakte der Seemeister jedes Risiko in Kauf nehmen.
Dieses Buch erweckt die Stadt des Bettlerkönigs zum Leben, gibt einen Überblick über die Geschichte und die gegenwärtige Situation Thalassas und beschreibt mit der Nyktoros-Halbinsel auch das Umland der Stadt. Eine Farbkarte des südlichen Chryseias liegt bei.

Fearsome magic and demons from the time of the Seemeisters are still active in the ruins. And behind the mystery of the beggar king the curse of a goddess and much older forces are at work. This book brings to life the city of the beggar king, an overview of the history and current situation of Thalassa and describes with the Nyktoros Peninsula the surrounding areas of the city. A color map of southern Chryseia is included.
