In the wilderness, the expedition finds the chasm already being explored by mercenaries hired by the Church of Ramia. It is like a giant mouth from the earth that beckons its prey to come explore and get lost in its wonders, unwise to the danger it will face inside. One of the features that draws people in is the half destroyed statue of a woman adorned with fine jewelry that embraces the mouth. She is giant compared to the trees that surround it and has a motherly presence, a harsh contrast to the ominous aura that emanates from the deep. Around the mouth of The Abyss, there are several camping spots filled with mercenaries and scholars, though each group on opposite sides and the animosity that they display towards each other is almost as sharp as the darkness from the ruins below...
