Undead are quite often perceived as the enemy, vile creatures that seek to escape death and feed on the raw powers of magic. Many of the worlds in which adventures take place hold a particular hatred for those who have temporarily escaped death, and yet very few offer stories of redemption, or even acceptance. Player characters and NPC's tend to be the exception to the rule.
