Once a year on the longest night, as the year draws to a close and days grow shorter and nights grow longer, cold sweeps up the town in a blanket of white, the witches in the area gather to celebrate this year’s Winter Solstice - A time for renewal, regeneration, and respite from some of the busiest parts of the year. You might think that the Winter Solstice is just another time to gather with loved ones and drink eggnog as we burn our finely decorated Yule logs, but when have holidays ever been easy?
Ringing in the new year means closing out the last one. The Winter Sabbath is the perfect meeting place of old rivalries and new love affairs, old traditions and new customs, and so very much drama that your fellow covenites will be talking about this year’s celebration until the next.
More so than most Winter Sabbaths, this year is buzzing with excitement as the Cold Moon falls on the solstice. It is the best time for stirring the pot, shaking things up, and forging ahead into new things. Will you be soaring into the new year on your broom, or will you be falling into it face first? Who is vying for power, magic or other? When is the caterer going to get here? And, most importantly... What could possibly go wrong?
