Children of mortals and vampires, or perhaps the result of a pregnant mortal infected by a vampire. Almost nothing is known of the exact nature of the dhampir, owing to both the secrecy of vampires and the low survival rate of the unfortunate mothers. It goes without saying that dhampir rarely have happy childhoods.
Even those who do not see dhampir as wicked abominations tend to see them as miserable and broody company. Even so, if one ever does get under a dhampir's icy exterior they can prove to be exceedingly loyal companions with magnificent inner strength.
