From publisher blurb:
The void is a cruel companion, a ceaseless expanse that swallows light and hope alike. Within its infinite grasp, adrift on the periphery of Haven Fallen, looms Veyrum’s Folly, a station built as a monument to ambition and hubris. Once a jewel of progress, its architects claimed to have harnessed the void itself, embedding their structure with energies never meant to be touched. But what they wrought was not innovation—it was an abomination. Now, it lingers like a wound in space, its halls cold, silent, and waiting. You have heard the stories, as everyone has: of riches hidden deep within its labyrinthine corridors, of secrets from a forgotten time that could change the fate of the galaxy. Some whisper of voices calling out to travellers, others of ghosts who wander the station, reliving the moment they died. Few who venture into its shadow ever return, and those who do are changed—eyes hollow, words fragmented, as if part of them remains trapped within the cursed structure. And yet, here you stand, your ship docked to its outer ring, the metallic creak of its seals groaning through the airlock. You and your companions, each driven by motivations as fractured and complex as the station itself, have come to plunder its depths. But Veyrum’s Folly is no abandoned relic. Its corridors twist and breathe, its machinery hums with life, and its silence presses against your mind like the weight of a thousand unsaid truths. Something here is alive—and it is watching. Perhaps it is greed that drives you, the promise of treasure to ease the struggles of a post-collapse galaxy. Or perhaps it is curiosity, the need to uncover what secrets the past has hidden away. For some of you, it may be guilt, redemption, or the hope of finding someone lost long ago. Whatever your reasons, you cannot turn back now. The door behind you has sealed, the light of your ship dimming as the station’s oppressive glow takes over.
In this place, the laws of reality falter. Shadows seem to move of their own accord, and the air tastes faintly of decay. You hear whispers, too faint to discern, but persistent enough to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Your thoughts grow heavier with each step, as though something unseen pulls at your very mind. It is said that Veyrum’s Folly feeds on the living, that it lures its prey with promises of power or salvation, only to devour them whole. The station is alive, but it is broken—fractured by the forces it sought to command. Its energies have warped not only its structure but those who linger within. You will find no allies here, only entities twisted by despair and greed. And then, there is the station’s heart, where the greatest horrors and treasures lie. To reach it, you must brave not only the dangers of the station but also the darkness within yourselves.
