The Game of Chumanchi

Description

Faintly you hear the sound of jungle drums, quiet at first, then growing louder and louder. Coming out into a clearing you find yourself standing before a mysterious mansion, out of it's time and wholly unusual. In front of you is a sign, pointing up the garden path of the well kept lawns saying:
“Chumanchi awaits, dare you play?”*

This module is a one-shot adventure that will see the party through the trials of Chumanchi, a mansion filled with skill challenges and combat encounters designed to test your party and wear them down before encountering Chumanchi the Lich. Each room of the mansion contains a different challenge.

To get through the house, instead of moving from room to room the characters must roll 2d6, when they do they are transported that many number of rooms to the next challenge. The aim is to get to the hidden chamber in the centre of the house. If one were to imagine the mansion like a boardgame, with each room being the indivicual "spaces", it is not too dissimilar.

This adventure works as a standalone one-shot or can be worked into an existing campaign to serve as a test, initiation, or simply a random encounter. The out of the box version of this adventure is for level 10 players, but it can be tweaked to be played at any level by adjusting the CR of the combat encounters and skill DC of the challenges, which will be covered in this guide. The adventure has been tested from levels 5-17.
