The Genpei War: Taira vs Minamoto 1180-1185

The Genpei War: Taira vs Minamoto 1180-1185 is a 2 player wargame set in 12th century Japan. The Imperial court has come under the influence of the powerful Taira clan. The Minamoto clan, enemies of the Taira, start a revolt that will eventually annihilate the Tairas and found the first Shogunate in Japanese history.

Players control one of the two rival clans, moving their armies (composed of novice and samurai cavalry and infantry, as well as leaders) and fighting battles. A common deck is used that contains events, combat and action cards and Bakufu cards. Bakufu cards are small objectives that allow for a political victory.
