From Introduction:
The Imperial Mine was a modern day success story, up until yesterday. By utilizing a combination of stone golems and metal automatons, the company was able to dig further and faster than ever before. With these unliving beings handling the hardest and most dangerous work of all, the numbers of human miners falling prey to cave ins and eruptions of poisonous gas reached a record low. While many feared these sorcerous animations would make flesh-and-blood miners obsolete, the opposite proved true — the company hired even more miners to pull iron from the ground.
But then they uncovered the caves. Deep within the ground, the earth had been hollowed out by arcane processes. These caves contained magical crystals, full of power and light. One would think the company had a new source of treasures on their hands, but this is where the trouble started. For the stone golems saw the power of their own life within these glowing jewels.
The golems did not discuss their thoughts with management. They knew such action would be pointless. Instead, they made an alliance with the automatons, and thus the revolt began. On payday, during the first hour of the first daylight work shift, they drove the human miners out, and seized control of the management office. Currently, both the mine and the box of silver coins that the miners would have been paid are both firmly in their possession.
So, what happens now?
