In the distant continent of Anchorome on the world of Toril, we were first introduced to the Azuposi people in the adventure and supplement FMQ1 City of Gold by John Nephew and Jonathan Tweet. In that fabulous product, we were given hints of far more distant lands, one of which was the Land of the Insect Men.
From Page 78 of FMQ1 City of Gold:
"Players who enjoyed playing explorer in the 'Quest for the City of Gold' may thirst for further travels. The Azuposi storytellers may be of assistance in inspiring new journeys.
The most intriguing of the tales speak of the far northwest. There, it is said, are yet harsher deserts in which dwell a race of mantis warriors-great insect men-who wander the badlands. Among other fantastic claims made about them, it is said that they mine precious metals and jewels from the earth, and eat them for sustenance! Why not set off to discover their secrets?"
Within this supplement, you will find a full description of the Land of the Insect Men as a subsetting - a full nation ready for players to explore or a setting where you can create your own insectoid player characters. The Azuposi knew little of the mantis-men (thri-kreen and their ilk), but they did not know of the bee-folk, or the ant-like bacar that had come to inhabit these lands. They know nothing of the great ankheg warrens where brave mantis-folk attempt to capture young ankhegs to serve as poweful steeds! They also know nothing of the Great Dig - though it is most certainly the source of the rumors behind the consumption of gemstones!
In this book, you will find new locations, character races, subclasses and a dozen new creatures, all illistrated by a variety of talented artists. The Land of the Insect Men is meant to accompany ANC1 The Anchorome Campaign Guide and ANM1 The Bee Tribe of Anchorome but they most certainly not required for use of this product.
