From the introduction:
In the year (fill in an old year), the daughter of Mage Theodore of (fill in a place) was kidnapped by a group of lawless thugs. They hoped to ransom her for the great riches that the Mage possessed. They knew that Theodore's powerful spells could find the girl, Allahna, anywhere in (insert world) except in the Great Desert. They used a strange mix of chemicals to paralyze Allahna so that she could not escape. When Theodore gave into their demands they would awaken her and collect their riches. They placed Allahna in an ancient desert temple called the "Hill Of Gold".
