From the introduction:
Link, the Hero of Hyrule, adventures across the land, his journey complete, Agahnim defeated, and his princess saved. What more is there for him to do but wander? As he travels, he comes across a shrine, containing what appears to be the mythical Triforce. He approaches and reaches out to it. As he does, the Triforce teleports him to the far away land of Holodrum, where he gets dumped on his ass and knocked unconscious. Thankfully a young woman by the name of Din comes across him and decides to nurse him back to health.
