Welcome to The Lorien Role Playing System Player's Handbook. This has been written to tell you all you need to know to create and use a character within the Lorien Role Playing (L.R.P.) System.

The original rules used by The Lorien Trust were first printed in a mailshot booklet together with a Character Generation Form in early 1992, in time for The Gathering '92. These rules formed the basis of the EarthWorks LRP System issue 2.02 which was released on 26th June 1993. The authors, The Lorien Trust, decided to place the EarthWorks Rules in the Public Domain, with the restrictions on public use that they could be used as long as they were not altered, used for profit, that appropriate attention was paid to safety and that they were not used in such a way as to bring LRP into disrepute. Although placed in the Public Domain, The Lorien Trust did not and have not relinquished the ownership of copyright on the rules.
On the 9th August 1994 issue 2.21 of the EarthWorks LRP System was released. These too were placed into the Public Domain with the same restrictions applied to them. Once again, ownership of copyright was not and still has not been relinquished by The Lorien Trust.
In 1995 some new rules were introduced for use at Lorien Trust events. Incantors, Incantations 1 and 2, Make/Read Maps, Sense Magic and Recognise Forgery, Combat and Non-Combat based rank skills were introduced in the Events '95 Booklet. Extra Healing abilities for Healers were introduced in the Faction Moots '95 Event Guide. Both booklets were produced by The Lorien Trust and all material within them are copyright to The Lorien Trust. These rules have never been placed into the Public Domain.
The copyright of all EarthWorks rules remain the property of The Lorien Trust.
