From publisher blurb:
In the immediate aftermath of the Revolutionary War, a vengeful British noble, seething from Great Britain’s defeat by backwoods rabble, masters the secrets of mesmerism (psionics) and discovers a way to teach others to do the same. Armed with strange powers of the mind, the students are tasked with going to America and doing only two things: create chaos with their abilities, and recruit others.
Authorities were at a loss to explain the mysterious fires, disappearances, and deaths until no less a luminary than Benjamin Franklin realized what was going on while reviewing documents concerning mesmerism. He hurriedly but quietly assembled a meeting of his fellow physicians and scientists, laid out his discoveries of the links between the strange phenomena, and had no trouble convincing them that action needed to be taken. The response was to recruit and equip special militias to hunt down and neutralize the mesmerists before they succeeded in destabilizing the young country.
The Mesmer Legacy is a paranormal mini-campaign setting for 2D6 RPGs such as Cepheus Engine and the Original Science Fiction Roleplaying Game (OSFRPG). Set in Colonial America in the post-Revolutionary War period, the campaign pits heroic patriots against terrorists with frightening mental powers.
