Manty cultures have legends about mysterious artists whose talents grow at an impossible rate. A singer with literally the voice of an angel, a sitar player whose tones draw out powerful emotion, or the fiddle player who could defeat the devil himself. This new subclass gives players the option to create this archetype of musician. This is far more than a bard, it is a true warlock who has gained their talents from a dark pact with a powerful creature. Their talents grow along with their pact magic to reveal powerful abilities no mere mortal musician could gain.
This subclass also features a new optional pact option, Pact of the Melody, where your Warlock can gain access to primal, arcane melodies that have a wide variety of effects. There are seven different melodies each for the seven tonalities of the major scale. Each melody has a magical effect appropriate for the tone of the musical modes from which the melody is derived.
Lastly, this supplement includes two new options for Eldritch Invocations. One allows the Warlock who has taken the Pact of the Melody option to gain more melodies. The other allows the musician to gain a magical instrument gifted from their Patron, which increases in abilities if you so choose.
This subclass provides great role playing opportunities for someone looking to play a Bard with a dark side. Make your own Robert Johnson, who is said to have made a pact with the Devil for his blues guitarist talents. Perhaps your playing attracted the attention of an Archfey with whom you unknowingly made a pact while you were dreaming. Or gain your abilities by defeating a this entity to gain a "shiny fiddle made of gold. But if you lose, the Devil gets your soul."
