The Nine Sins of Asmodeus

Game ID: GID0341459
Collection Status
Description

This accessory is designed to run alongside Asmodeus' Corrupted Grimoire and Chains of Asmodeus in order to provide depth and foreshadowing to your campaign.

Before a gaming session, or during a downtime break, encourage your players to think about a sin their character might have committed in their past. This may be part of their background and past, but first ensure that all of the players at your table are comfortable with the concepts. Offer your players a list of sins to choose from - Anger, Greed, Jealousy, Pride, Betrayal, Harm, Oppression, Murder, and Deceit. If a player wishes to explore a different sin, be open to their suggestion. These might include: Gluttony, Cowardice, Sloth, or Lust.

If you're familiar with the premise of Chains of Asmodeus, you'll know that sins are an integral part of the adventure and the Nine Hells themselves. Asmodeus has tricked prominent individuals into signing contracts that he knows they can never fulfill. Having signed away their souls, he has secreted them in phylacteries scattered among the Nine Hells.

It's improbable that any of your players' characters have signed such a contract. Nonetheless, their characters might be driven by the involvement of friends or loved ones who have signed the contract. Regardless, these dream sequences are intended to establish the forthcoming narrative and add depth to you game. Once each player selects a sin, ask them to briefly describe an event or circumstance in their character's past related to this sin. They might need some time to develop this part of their backstory.

With these narratives in hand, create dream sequences for each character. During the dreams, give the player some autonomy over their character to enhance its realism. You might also include the other party members in the dream, allowing the entire group to share in the experience.
