Greetings adventurers and Game Masters!

I am pleased to announce the release of the fifteenth adventure in my Old School Series, THE SAURIAN SANCTUM. In this adventure your players will be tasked with rescuing a group of villagers kidnapped by a raiding part of lizard folk. The aquatic raiders assaulted a peaceful seaside village, took half a dozen of them captive, and then fled back into their swamp. The players stumble onto the aftermath of this raid and the local sheriff begs them to set off into the swamp after the lizard folk to rescue those taken. This scenario is a low level adventure intended for 4 to 6 players of levels 2 to 4.

Synopsis: The adventure in this scenario takes place in and around the hamlet of Pertween, a small fishing settlement along the southern coast of The Red Eagle Barony. While this region of the Barony experiences occasional trouble with pirate raids, lying as it does near the outlaw infested Veridian Isles, the area is generally peaceful, thanks to the protection provided by the unseen elvish forces which patrol the Dlútha Forest.

The inhabitants of Pertween are mostly halflings and gnome whose focus is on working the sea and living their lives, and they take little notice of and have no trouble with the aquatic humanoids that dwell in the nearby swamp, taking a live and let live attitude toward them. For the most part they have had little interaction and no interference from their reclusive saurian neighbors, who seemed content to shun the outside world…until recently.

Outside agitators, Chaotic fish folk known as the Garlië, have riled up the normally Neutral lizard folk. At the behest of their dark masters, a Garlië war band has come to the swamp and begun banging the drums of war. They have spread lies of imminent invasion by human and demi-humans forces. Playing on the lizard folks’ fear and mysticism, the Garlië priestess Nes’kess she has pushed them to preemptively strike Pertween, and commanded the taking of several hostages. These captives have been brought deep into the swamp, to a venerable sanctum of the lizard folk, where Nes’kess has vowed to use the captives’ souls to bring the lizard folk leaders entombed there back to life, to lead them in the coming struggle for their very survival.

Will you players take up the sheriff’s quest and rescue these captives before their souls are devoured?
