This document presents a new playable race for players of 5th edition D&D. The selkie-born are the children of land-dwelling peoples and selkies, shapeshifting humanoids who can don a coat of seal fur to transform into a seal.
This document contains lore and traits for the new, homebrewed selkie-born ancestry, as well as for two subrace options: the Graycloak Selkie-born and the Finnfolk Selkie-born.
The selkie-born are specifically inspired by the selkies depicted in the folklore of Britain and Ireland. That said, seal-related shapeshifters can be found in the folklore of a wide variety of cultures, and the selkie-born are intended to be suitable for games of any setting.
