Description

From Introduction:

The Grand Magus Hotel was an arcane miracle. Built by the eccentric contortionist Endareth Vetch, it was meant to be the world’s premiere luxury hotel catering almost exclusively to wizards. In fact, it could only be found by magic. Nowadays, it is still hard to find without magic, but those who do may be in for quite a shock. Since Endareth disappeared, his establishment has fallen far in the world of luxury. It still has staff —some of whom remain against their will, unable to escape—and it still attracts wizards. But those who come here to take advantage of the solitude and services are few and far between. Most of those who come are here to loot the place, and see what treasures they can find within its walls.

In the back rooms behind the concierge’s desk, there is a vault, where guests can leave their valuables for safekeeping. After all, even in a place that can only be found by magic there are still thieves. And wizards have other items, too, that they might not want to keep in their rooms. This vault, and the safety deposit boxes it contains, would be more than enough to attract adventurers, but the Grand Magus Hotel has other treasures as well.

Many who come here have heard that the rooms occupied by Endareth Vetch himself have disappeared. The apartments that he slept in, his office spaces, everything — gone. Like it never existed. But somewhere in those rooms is the secret to controlling the hotel itself. It is still an operational hotel, and it certainly tries to offer luxury, but there is no one at the helm, so to speak. The magical processes that drive this place fall further into ruin every year, and those who still work here of their own volition have little loyalty to their former boss, if they even knew him. Mostly, they are here for treasure too, and find being employed more advantageous than being a guest.

They say that not all of the safety deposit boxes in the concierge’s vault hold valuables in them. Rather, some of them are portals to other places, including other places in the hotel. If you can find the one that leads to Endareth Vetch’s missing rooms, you can take whatever he kept there — including (perhaps) the deed to the hotel itself!
