Description

Trikad is an abstract strategic game. It’s played on a hexagonal board divided in triangular spaces. On three sides, the middle space are called Gate. Around his Gate, each player starts with eight triangular pieces of one color set up to a triangle. The players try to get one of his pieces to each of the two other Gates to win.

The players move one of their pieces each turn. There are two allowed ways of movement:

Bascule (turn over): Flip a piece around one side to an empty space.
Culbute (somersault): Flip a piece around one corner to an empty space.

There are ways to move the other player’s pieces:

Goulet (bottleneck): If two pieces of the same color have a third piece of any color between them, that piece may be flipped with a Culbute to any direction.
Cascade: It’s possible to build chain reactions to move multiple own or other player’s pieces in a row.
Rosette: If six pieces of any color touch each other at one edge, the player who moved the last piece to the Rosette must break it up with a Bascule or a Culbute.

When the game is played with two players, the third colour isn’t touched and must be moved with Goulets and Rosettes.
