From publisher blurb:
Tactical Doctrine: Troll King is a 5e-compatible supplement of goblins, orcs, and trolls for players, GMs, and solo players.
Troll King comes with the new Tactical Barbarian class, a Barbarian class who is empowered by five animal spirits of the five elements. Choose between the kraken or serpent, the bear or lion, the eagle or raptor, the hyena or wolf, or any of the bull, elephant, or elk. Once you've got your spirits chosen, each one will give you a set of powers to draw upon. Powers come in pairs, and using one power means its twin is also unavailable until you take your next short rest. If you use Bear's power to become immune to physical damage for one round, that means you can't use his power to add an extra damage die to each of your attacks for one turn. If you use Hyena's power to inflict bleed with an attack, you can't use his power to move away from adjacent enemies as a reaction, retreating out of range of melee attacks. If you use Raptor's power to take an extra action, you cannot use his power to heal yourself.
The new Tactical Barbarian still has the core class features of the SRD Barbarian, like Rage and Brutal Critical, and has the same sub-class levels, meaning it's fully compatible with any printed Barbarian sub-classes, including the two new sub-classes in this book, the Orc Berserker and the Orc Champion, paragons of orc ferocity who are joined by the Goblin Assassin and the Pyromancer for a total of four new sub-classes in the book.
The book features dozens of new monster stat blocks focused around building a complete army for the Troll King, with orc archers, orc shamans, orc champions, goblin thieves and marauders and wolf knights, troll pyromancers and praetorians, all of which can be encountered alone, in patrols of about eight, or in companies of 30 or more, giving the Troll King armies that go from a single ornery bugbear to pick on your first level scrubs up to a small army of trolls to face off against a high-level party.
And the Troll King's army comes with a set of solo tables you can roll on in order to fight them with no GM at all. Each solo table is a d8 table that includes everything from the most basic attacks to attempts to pummel adventurers into paste, hurl them across the battlefield, or tear off one of their limbs and eat it, making solo fights with the Troll King's minions a cinematic and varied experience.
Solo or party, enemy of the orcs or one of their number, back the Troll King!
