In Trollbooth, 2-6 players take on the role of mischievous trolls who build bridges, collect tolls, capture unsuspecting travellers, and upgrade their caves to earn the most victory points!
The game is played over five rounds, each divided into five phases:
Build Phase: Players add a Bridge card from their hand to the shared Bridge Row.
Troll Phase: Players deploy their trolls to a bridge to collect tolls (i.e. resources).
Traveller Phase: Traveller cards are revealed (one for each bridge), and players take turns choosing a traveller to capture.
Crumble Phase: Players choose an unoccupied Bridge card to add to their cave, increasing the value of their resources.
End of Round Phase: The First Player token passes to the last player to collect a crumbling bridge, the Bridge Row is refreshed, and players take their trolls back.
At the end of five rounds, players tally their victory points from the resources they've gathered, the special scoring conditions of captured travellers, and their cave upgrades. The player with the most victory points wins the game!
