Word spreads quick through the occult underground. Hedge mages, necromancers, and tomb robbers all know about it: the king needs some monster slayers. Perhaps you have heard also that several of his knights were slain over the weekend? This must be why. No ordinary exterminators can handle his current problem, so he’s gone in search of a specialist. Even the wizards from his royal college seem shaken when you show up to accept the job.
The king’s personal waterfowl preserve has been infected by some sorcerous malignancy. The beautiful, fat ducks and quail that should have graced his majesty’s feasting table have become twisted, man-eating monstrosities. Now their bodies are like twisting coils — engorged and discoloured, repelling the points of swords. Their now-gigantic beaks kill men and beasts alike. No one knows how this happened or how to get rid of them. Perhaps you can solve this mystery?
