...Gned knew he had to get out and figure out what caused that explosion. He ran out from the tower and around the corner of the trench. Blaydewyng was clashing blades with a towering beetle knight. The beetle knight held bucklers in two of his hands, a warhammer in the third and a rocket launcher in the fourth. He deflected Blaydewyng’s rapid slashes with the bucklers and raised his warhammer, preparing to bring it down on the winged warrior.
Gned took careful aim at the beetle knight with his laser gun, but suppressive fire from a squad of soldier ants threw him off. He moved to cover and tried to shoot the beetle again. His shot fried the beetle’s wrist joint, causing him to drop his warhammer. It crashed down, leaving a small crater. The beetle knight decided to blast Blaydewyng with the rocket launcher instead, but she was too fast. With a swift slash she cut deep into his body with her sword.
Gned ran into back up Blaydewyng, picking up the beetle knight’s warhammer on the way. The two of them nodded and prepared to finish off the huge fighter.
As they closed in with their weapons drawn, a barrage of shots rained down from a nearby upper ledge. The beetle knight tried to defend himself but he was torn to pieces by Heinous Hendrika’s chaingun. The body of the beetle knight slammed to the ground.
“Chalk another up for me! Booyah!” shouted Hendrika.
Blaydewyng scowled. “That kill mooching jerk! I can’t believe this!”...
