Um die Kopje

Game ID: GID0370747
Collection Status
Description

The playing consists of a square grid, on which two enemy commandos face each other. The one in A is the red command, the other in B is the blue command. In the middle is a kopje to fight for possession of. The winning command is the first to occupy the 5 squares framed with the color of the command. 9 figures of each color are required, which are placed on the spaces marked by colored discs. A move consists of either moving a piece one space, in any direction, or letting the piece make a single jump or a continuous jump. Only your own pieces can jump up to the squares of your color, where you have to pass between the enemy pieces, you naturally also jump over the opponent's pieces. If a command has succeeded in occupying one of the 5 squares of its color with one of its figures, the opponent loses a figure. Pieces that have already been placed on the squares of his color may not be removed. So it can only happen five times that one opponent takes pieces from the other, and that's the end of the game, because the command that only has 4 pieces left in the field can no longer occupy the kopje completely.

The game is set during the second Boer War (South African War 1899-1902).
