From publisher blurb:
Centuries ago, the city of Kiliath Ur was utterly destroyed. No one knows exactly what happened, or how. The legendary lost city was recently rediscovered, spawning a new age of exploration as researchers race to stake their claims on its ancient wonders. Rumors speak of great artifacts and lost technologies that can make one rich beyond their wildest dreams, and there are valuable scientific discoveries to be made among the rocks and ruins as well.
Kiliath Ur had been the teeming capital of a seafaring kingdom. Today the valley is a barren wasteland, poisoned and blasted with foul magic, roamed by monsters, where no sane person ventures.
Vanquished Land revolves around the lost city of Kiliath Ur, and the University obsessed with studying it. It combines elements of horror and whimsy, and is probably best suited for adventurers who enjoy character exploration, problem-solving, and exploring mysteries as well as thrilling combat with strange beasts in exotic locations.
The Structure
Written by multiple Hugo award-winning author Elisabeth Bear, this adventure module is system-agnostic. You can use it with your game system of choice. You will need to create stats for the characters and monsters at an appropriate level for your players.
There is a linear central plot line, experienced by visiting a variety of unique locations and running specific adventures. The remaining points of interest and adventures can show up anywhere in your world you wish, and add to the narrative flavor and depth of this module. Also included is a short story that sets the tone and details what happened years ago in Kiliath Ur.
