Ushers lead you into a large, open area where tables of snacks and glasses of cheap wine have been arranged. You have just been privileged to attend the local premiere of the latest art film, in the film noir genre. Mysterious women with a shady past, gangsters, subtle subtext, foreshadowing, and shocking violence have entertained you for the past ninety minutes. Now it’s time for the after–party, where everybody can unwind and socialise.
