"Viking: Battle for Asgard" is a third person action game, developed by Creative Assembly, better known for the Total War series.
Based on Norse mythology, the game is set in the realm of Asgard, with the player acting as the champion of the Goddess Freya. The player must unite the Norse tribes against the force of the evil Goddess Hel.
Each level is relatively "open world" with no set structure to the level bar a number of missions. By completing these missions & conquering villages/towns etc, the player gains troops for his army, before facing off against the massed enemy troops in battles straight out of "Lord of the Rings".
The game is played in a third person "over the shoulder" perspective, with a variety of typical 'hack & slash' combos/powers available. At key takedowns, the game switches to a "quick time event" style of gameplay.
