While journeying through an outpost town run by missionaries and designed to turn violent natives from their savage ways, and to the god of light, you are asked by an eccentric old wizard who follows the god of light to rescue a convert who was kidnapped. If nothing is done, she will be sacrificed to the volcano.
However, once at the volcano your players learn that the violent savages actually have a reason to preform sacrifices—an evil elemental who threatens to destroy their nearby village if they do not appease it.
Afterwards, your players learn that the “savages” actually worship the same pantheon of gods, albeit their different aspects. Once they return to the outpost town, your players might realise that they were asked by the God of Light to assist the natives, as he believes they needed help to stop the sacrifices, but shouldn’t be forced to leave the ways of their ancestors just because of their dire circumstances.
