From Introduction:
The wizard is gone. Perhap he is even gone forever! We can all live in hope, at least. But the wizard’s absence does not mean his sanctum is devoid of activity. His diminutive waiter golems still prowl the halls, in search of guests to serve. Of course, they are not true golems, for the wizard did not animate them with words of power written in the ancient script. Instead, like most of the wizard’s magics, they are an obscene perversion of the original principle. These animated creatures have been given the semblance of life by being possessed by the ghosts of the wizard’s former servants. Even in his absence, those who displeased him in life are now compelled to serve him faithfully for eternity, whether they like it or not.
Made of clay and rock, with four little feet for added stability, waiter golems are small and completely flat on top, which makes them perfect for carrying trays of food and drink for the wizard and his guests, or lamps and candles for them to dine by. However, they have not performed this task properly in a long while, for there has been no wizard, and no guests for them to serve. The halls of this sanctum have been quiet, save for the sound of the waiter golems wandering in vain.
Of course, an unused sanctum is no different from any other dungeon. Before long, the dungeoneers will come, to break in and rob it of its riches. And once again, the waiter golems will have guests to serve.
