Many goblinoids have been called Nilbog but only one is the true spirit. Legend says Nilbogs were goblins possessed by trickster spirits. The truth is, they have been taken over by just one. The Nilbog.
When in possession, Nilbog avatars are potent agents of mayhem. Any damaging strike would instead cause The Nilbog to heal. In addition, any effort to hurt The Nilbog ran the risk of the perpetrator succumbing to nilbogism and being forced to laud The Nilbog rather than kill it. Many have given over their life savings to a Nilbog.
Nilbogs ultimately though are selfish creatures, if they are kept amused and showered with what they desire most. Well, no harm would ever come to someone doing so. Should someone stop providing this, however, the results could be powerfully destructive.
