The Kickstarter edition is distinct from the later retail edition because the miniatures have a wash applied. Quoting Update #25: "The wash brings down the overall yellow appearance and brings out the fine detail [... of the] buildings. [...] The wash application is [...] exclusive to the buildings produced for this production. Any building upgrade packs produced after this will not have the wash applied."
