WHAT THE WHAT?! is a 3-10 person party game where players compete to invent outrageous new uses for genuine old-time inventions. Featuring audacious attempts, fantastic fails, and kooky contraptions from the world’s patent archives.
It’s easy to play. The Investor reveals an illustrated invention card. Players become the Inventor and channel their inner hustler, comedian, and entrepreneur to pitch the most outrageous - or accurate - explanation of WHAT THE WHAT?!! is that?
How To Play
At the beginning of the game, each player is dealt 10 Pitch Prompt cards. Take one Invention Card and place it on the table. The Investor acts like a judge and the remaining players are Inventors, whose job it is to pitch these oddball inventions and impress the Investor to score points.
Inventors have 1-minute to write down their pitches or select one of their Pitch Prompt cards to use as a basis for their pitch.
“What you need when…” or “For people who….” or, “A device for...”
The Investor hands out points and turns the inventions over and reads the back of the card, revealing information about the invention. The next player to the left becomes the next Investor, and so on until every player, in turn, has been the Investor once.
