Description

From publisher blurb:

There is a place at the farthest edge of the galaxy, beyond the reach of ancient star maps and the whispers of traders who claim to have touched the last embers of the known universe. It is called the Xalrian Expanse—a dark, uncharted region where space bends, time drips like rain from a broken clock, and the stars themselves seem to flicker with a nervous energy. Few ships have ventured this far into the darkness, and fewer still have returned to tell the tale. For some, it’s a void to be avoided, a cosmic dead zone where the universe falls silent. But for others, it’s a place of mystery, ripe for discovery, and perhaps, for conquest. The Vigilant Dawn, a sleek and battle-worn starship of the Trinity Pact’s advanced fleet, has been sent to pierce that darkness. Onboard are explorers, soldiers, scientists—each with their own reason for pushing the boundaries of what the Pact considers safe. For Captain Shai Namren, the Expanse represents a chance to leave her mark on history, to etch her name alongside the great discoverers who reshaped the known galaxy. She has led this ship through countless battles and negotiations, but here, facing the void, she feels a chill she hasn’t known in years. The briefing spoke of mapping star systems, of identifying potential resources and threats, but her gut tells her that their mission is far more dangerous than any report suggested. She brushes the thought away—fear has no place on a mission like this.

As the ship breaches the outer rim of the Xalrian Expanse, strange signals begin to echo through the hull—whispers in frequencies that don't exist, bursts of static that speak in patterns too complex for human comprehension. At first, the crew dismisses them as interference from the distant black holes that dot the region, but the voices persist, growing clearer with each passing hour. Saria Kothran, the xenobiologist, is fascinated. She spends hours in the lab, trying to decode the signals, convinced that they represent the first contact with a species beyond the Pact’s understanding. Her eyes gleam with a manic light as she pores over the data, believing that they might be standing on the brink of a discovery that will change the course of history. To her, the Expanse is a promise, a doorway into a universe no one has yet seen. But not all of the crew shares her enthusiasm.

In this Solo Adventure you assume the role of a Character in a Dark Science Fantasy setting. You will require The Haven Fallen Core Rulebook (CRB), and any associated Expansions you wish to use to assist you, along with a pen and paper or word-processing document, to play.

The story is set up with an Introduction, a handful of location details and a few pertinent Story Points. The rest is down to you and your imagination.

The Actions you take should depend on who and what you see, and how you wish to interact. Keep a record of your story and adapt it as per the result of each Action. As you progress you will see that you are behaving as your own Storyteller, creating the interactive world in which you are playing.

Use the Character Creation section of the CRB to create your Character and use the Storyteller section of the CRB to assist with generating NPCs.

Once you have familiarised yourself with the following few pages, you are ready to begin.
