From the introduction:
The Hali-go tribe have always had a hard life. Trying to eke out a living in the harshest of ecological niches, they have had to be tough to survive. It would seem however that recent events have proved too much even for them. Winter has come too early, baffling their wise men and sending the council of elders into disarray. No-one knows why things have happened in this way. For the last season, all the omens have been ambiguous at best. Now, caught completely unprepared by the rapidly dropping temperatures, the tribe must attempt to migrate straight away. Hasty as this plan of action is, it promises great danger. More now than ever, they must fight to survive.
