Not all golems were created to 'just guard my stuff'. Please meet the Wood Golem: Riding Horse variant. The story goes something like this: A Magician, to lazy to want to walk everywhere, but too cheap to want to buy a horse, then build a stable, then hire a stable master, decides to make a long term magical mount. Becoming obsessed with this idea, he spends way to much gold and developes a construct mount. Of course the wizard decides to ride his new creation through town to show off his creation. Now every noble worth his palace wants to show off their status by getting their own Wood Golem: Riding Horse. But of course, they couldn't have 'the same' golem. So of course the wizard starting tinkering again and can now include some variants.
