User Summary
Created as an edu-tainment activity, Wunder at its core is a practice drill for translating 78 weak German verbs to and from English. Rather than simply presenting these as a boring Q&A, Wunder places this linguistic quiz into an action-arcade game.
After selecting the starting level, you are wunderwarped to a field filled with electrified posts and surrounded by an electric fence. The player must avoid these deadly obstacles while trying to catch the four guards moving around the area. Your goal is to catch each guard and correctly translate the word printed on the guard's shirt. This sends the guard into a frenzied panic, causing him to run rapidly around the field before eventually frying himself on one of the obstacles. As the game progresses, the field not only becomes more crowded with the electric posts, but relentless and indestructible electrified robots are added to the mix - avoid them or die!
After you successfully complete the fourth level (or get fried by a fence or robot), a scoring screen displays the number of guards caught, the number of successful translations, and the number of hints you used to complete the game.
As a BASIC game, the new downloadable content edition of Wunder can be typed into a physical TRS-80, or the program file (WUNDER2/BAS) can be directly loaded into a TRS-80 emulator.
