Description

The Xbox Series X's console form is designed to be unobtrusive and minimalistic. It has a 15.1 cm × 15.1 cm (5.9 in × 5.9 in) footprint, is 30.1 cm (11.9 in) high, and weighs 4.45 kg (9.8 lb). Designed to sit vertically, it can also be used on its side. Its front has the main power button and an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. The top of the unit is a single powerful fan. The Series X includes an HDMI 2.1 output, the storage expansion slot, three USB 3.2 ports, and an Ethernet port.

The Series S is designed to be easily fit inside of a small bag or backpack for portability and travel usage. The Series S unit is about 60% smaller by volume than the Series X, measuring 275 by 151 by 63.5 millimetres (10.83 in × 5.94 in × 2.50 in) in its vertical orientation. In this orientation, its large side surface features the major exhaust port for active air cooling. The front of the Series S features one USB port and a controller pairing button with an integrated IR receiver. The rear of the console includes the power connector, one HDMI port, two additional USB ports, and an Ethernet port. No disc; digital only.

Versions:
Series X is the larger, more powerful console that supports physical media.
Has more storage space and supports true 4K.
The console is backwards compatible with all Xbox One, Xbox 360, and some original Xbox games.
An internet connection is required during setup, and discs have to be registered online for them to be playable offline.

Series S is the cost saving, slimmer console that is digital only.
It is limited to 1440p and has half the storage of the Series X.
A "Parity Mandate" requires all games for the S and X to have the same content and features. Games may be delayed or downgraded in order to work with the Series S' limited ram; some waivers have been granted over developer complaints.

Storage:There are five types of storage:

Console Storage: All consoles come with this. Games, screenshots, and save data is stored here.
Expansion Card: A proprietary media card purchased separately and plugged into the "expansion" slot on the console.
USB: Must be purchased separately (min requirements 3.0 and 128GB or larger) and plugged into a USB slot on the console. Can only store screenshots; games will play poorly.
HDD Hard Drive: Must be purchased separately and plugged into a USB slot on the console. Store game installs and transfer between console. Games marked as "optimized for Series S" are not compatible.
External SSD Drive: Must be purchased separately and plugged into a USB slot on the console. Similar to HDD but faster, quieter, and more expensive. Games marked as "optimized for Series S" are not compatible.
