In Yu-Gi-Oh! Millennium Duels, players enter a Virtual Dueling System, an advanced program in which they battle against simulated Duelists in the animated series, from classic Yu-Gi-Oh! to Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. Players can even unlock avatars from the animated series and take them online to battle other players in versus matches.

Yu-Gi-Oh Millenium duels is a trading card game. It features twenty characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh universe to duel against. In the normal gameplay mode you will play against five characters. The first four you must defeat in single duel and the last opponent you must defeat in match duel. In order to progress to the next set of opponents you must defeat each opponent in the prior set. When you defeat an opponent you get a random card.
