Zavod: The Runners

This is a small peg-and-dice game that challenges two players to a race. Players roll 2d6 then choose one of them for their movement. Should you pace yourself and hold back? Burst ahead to take the lead? Stay with the pack? The trick is that the first player in every round is the player in last place. The race runs from the "city gates" in one corner, follows a parallel course of two rows of spaces to the "tower" at the opposite corner, then back again - a total of 24 spaces each way by the shortest course. The first player whose peg returns through the city gates wins the race. (Zavod is a simple race game for kids, a fun game for travel or family outings.)
