Description

アオイトリ (Aoitori) is a set collecting game from Japan. Aoitori is the Bluebird, and the game is themed on the bluebird of happiness. Players are trying to collect chips showing happy things (Family 4pts or Cake 3pts) and avoid the negative (Death -1pt & War -2pt), and also to get the most Bluebirds too.

The game has a deck of cards, showing a birdcage on one face, and on the other, either a bluebird or a blank space. The deck is shuffled, and groups of six cards are dealt face-down to form birdcages, one cage for each player.

Then the chips are shuffled face-down and one chip put on each card. These are turned face-up.

Players take turns taking a chip of their choice from a cage, and then turning the card over to reveal either a bluebird or a blank space.

If a birdcage has at least one card turned over, a player can take the whole birdcage home, but this puts them out of the round.

Once each player has taken a birdcage (the set of six cards), the round is scored. Players get points for having the majority in each type of chip (lose points for the negative chips), and for having got bluebirds.

After playing some rounds, the player with the most points wins.
