In おかしなおちゃかい (Okashina Ochakai), players compete in two teams of 2 players each. It is a trick-taking game in which players are not dealt a hand of cards, but will draw them one at a time from an initial hand. The cards show the expected suit and rank on the front, and some cards also show a point value (positive or negative.) All cards show their suit on the back, and if a card is worth points, that is indicated with a symbol.
When a player picks up a card to add it to their eventual hand for the round, they can choose to have it face themselves or the other players. If it faces the other players, the card drawer's team earns a resource which may later allow that team to play cards from each others hands.
Points are scored by the presence of certain cards in tricks and the first team to 30 points wins.
