Machi Koro Life Board Game Teach and Playthrough
Transcript
Yes. Okie dokie. Today we are going to be playing Machioro Life, which takes the engine building card driven uh system of Machioro
um and changes the theme up to be things about your life instead of building [clears throat] out a city. And good morning timing. Good morning, Ava. Thanks for joining guys. [clears throat]
Here you go, Bo. Have some trios. Yes. Yum. Yum. So game's very simple to set up. You've got these four different decks of cards. Oh yes, Night Se was definitely staying. I really liked it. Um and last night's Calypso was really good, too. So to set up, we've got four different uh decks here. Bobo, let's stop that, please. Um and you're going to draw out five unique cards. If you got a duplicate, you're just going to stack them. And so the entire game is based off of these cards. So you basically you're going to do a lot of reading to start. Uh, and then you're going to read each card as it comes out. Um, at the start of the game, we all have five hearts. And then we're going to do that to go one at a time buying cards. The cost of a card is in the lower corner of it. And the goal is to get to eight points first. Uh, and so points are in the stars on only on the dream cards. So these are our everyday life and these are our dreams and aspirations. Uh, the first person to eight points will win. After we've done that initial thing, we're going to check for any startup turn effects. Then we're going to roll one or two dice. Um if you choose to roll two dice, you're going to evaluate them together. So this is a five. Whatever the number is, you're going to activate that card that's in your tableau. Uh red cards will activate on other players turns. So you do have to watch what the other players roll.
Blue cards will activate on anyone's turn. Once again, watch what you roll. Green cards will activate only on your turn. Uh and they will stack. So if you've got two fashion senses and you roll a five, you're going to get six hearts instead of three hearts. Uh, and then purples activate uh on your turn only as well. Um, however, the purple cards affect other people um or affect the the game in itself. Um, then you're going to collect any hearts that you've got. With all those hearts that you've collected, you may buy one card. So, you're going to have to play for at least eight rounds, but it's probably going to be a lot more than that. Uh, and then you're going to check to see if you've got the eight points to win. Then you're going to check to see if any of the cards had end of round um effects on them and then you'll pass the dice to the next player and we will go from there.
So let's take a look at what we've got to start. We got a prank. On your turn only exchange this card for another player's card. We have two cafes. Um take one heart from the active player for each diner you own. Um, and that's reminding you that happens on the opponent's turn. Uh, and that says a uh that is a diner icon. And so this is a combo icon. That's a fashion icon. That's a top hat. Um, so I don't see any diners out here.
That's a graduation cap.
Graduation cap.
Uh, so I don't see any diners out here. Anything with the diner card yet? That's probably not so great.
Uh, the gym will gain one heart on anyone's turn. I like that. So I'm going to buy that. That costs one heart. And then I refill this to unique cards. So we got a bookworm that's unique. And then Steve gets to buy his card. And we're going to do this until we decide that we're done buying.
Um because you can keep your hearts into the next turn.
Do we have to buy a minimum amount of cards?
Okay. Um each.
Oh, wait. You're going to do this th three times.
Okay. Yes. U hearts and take this one. It gives me three, but it's my turn. Okay. Um, we got the bookworm. Gain two on your turn, but it's free. Gain three on your turn. Gain one on anyone's turn. Gain one on anyone's turn. But these are the higher numbers. So, you'll see this these ones you're going to have to roll twice to get them.
On your turn, only gain a half rounded down of their of their hearts from all players who have who has 10 or more hearts. That grammatically incorrect. Take two hearts from the active player for every sausage looking icon you have. I have no idea what that is.
It looks like a toilet roll.
I think it's supposed to be a shooting star. We'll have to figure out what the card is.
Uh on your turn only gain hearts from each player, hearts for each uh bathroom you have.
The bathroom is family
or family. I mean that's the bathroom icon, but there's the Actually, that's only a that's a couple. This is not a family.
That's friends.
Yeah. Um,
that's two people.
On your turn, only gain hearts for each copy you have of the card you have the most of.
On your turn only. Okay, that just means because it's a green card, but it makes it sound like you only get hearts for this. Gain hearts for each copy you have of the card you have the most of. So, this rewards duplicates. Your income from um hats is increased. So, that makes that combo really well. When you gain this, gain from all players as many hearts as there are homes in play, including this. How's that work? If you buy that in the start of the round. Oh, I sneeze.
Ah, I'm stuck. Oh, you know what? I still have to have two things open because this doesn't have the raid buttons I need for for Twitch. I don't know why. I might refund my purchase on that pro and just give them a tip jar for what they did.
Um, on your turn, you can put this card out of the game to gain two hearts. Oh, so that won't worth anything. When you gain this, attach it to one of your life cards. Gain hearts from the stock when that card triggers. Gain a heart. When you gain this, gain one collector's items if there are any in the lineup. Oh, there is. So, this gives me two cards. That cost six. I don't have enough. And these all cost way too many hearts. I'm going to go with junk food. That cost me two more hearts. That's a personal professional license. So that's a duplicate and a ble market.
Take one heart from the active player.
Uh I'm going to take this one. Bookworm
supporting idol. Gain hearts on anyone's turn to roll of two. Well, I'm going to take that as well because that's free.
Okay. So now uh Steve's got to buy one more card.
One more card. Uh what do I want? What do I uh take from?
So, I have set myself up that if I roll or Steve rolls a four, five, or two, I'm getting hearts. And we need lots of hearts to buy those dream cards, which are worth the points.
I take this one back. You want first?
Okay, that's a cafe.
That's okay. So, now I roll the dice. I choose one or two. Oops. I should supposed to choose one or two. I'm gonna choose one.
Okay, I got a one. So, it doesn't activate any of my cards. And it doesn't activate any of your cards. So, I get no things. I can buy cards. I've got two bucks.
Um, I will duplicate my gym for a buck.
So, anytime a four is rolled, I will get two hearts.
Oh, yes. Now, you choose one or two dice to roll.
Uh, I will choose one.
No, I need that there. Okay. Four.
Okay. So, I'm going to get two hearts because on anyone's turn, a hire's roll, my gyms activate. So, I get one turn
on your turn. No. Oh, that's only if I
You didn't roll four. So, all you have is your three hearts to buy a card.
Okay. So, uh Okay, I'm not going to buy. I'm going to take books.
That's free.
So, I have two of these.
Okay, we've got another sporting idol. Okay, I will choose one die,
a four. So, I get two more hearts again. Good. One, two, three, four, five. That's not what I want yet. So, I'm going to pass on buying.
Okay. Okay. I'm going to
roll the two. So, I get one heart.
So, I get You gain two on your turn only. Twice that. So, you get four. One, two, three, four.
Okay. So, now I can buy something.
Yep.
Okay. I have two, four, six, seven. What can I buy for six here? Oh, nothing. Uh,
not the six, seven.
Six. I can buy Oh, I got to buy a home for my first one, two, three, four, five, six. Uh, when you gain this card, gain from all palers as many hearts as there is homes.
And there's no homes.
So, do I play that now?
Yeah, but there are no homes.
I have a home, including this home.
Oh, okay. Okay. So, I get a home.
Steals one of my hearts. Okay. I got a new home.
All right.
Okay. I'm going to roll one die. It's a two. I got one more dollar again. Your twos are only on your turn. Nope. Your twos are only on your turn.
Oh, yeah. Other person might take one. Oh, that's not that's a three.
Yeah. Okay. So, now I have one, two, three, four, five, six that I want to get the globe trotder. And when I get the globe trotder, I also get a collector's item. And so on my turn, I can put this card out of the game for two hearts. Two, three, four, five, six. And then I'll immediately get rid of that card. So that I basically got this card for four. So I got a a point for $4 instead of $6.
All right. Okay. My turn.
Yep.
Go ahead. I'm rolling one dice.
Five.
Roll the five. gain three on your turn only.
Yep. So, the green ones give you more hearts, it looks like, but the blue ones activate
multiple times.
Okay. So, all right. Now, now I get to buy.
Yep.
Okay. Uh
but only one card.
Yeah. Uh
this one's free
and it gives you things when other people roll.
Oh, yeah. I just for
fashion sense. gain three hearts on your turn only. Okay. I roll one dice. It's a two. That activates yours as well.
Oh. So, uh, what do I get? I get another four points.
Nope. Just your blue.
Oh, this blue. So, I got one point there. Yes.
All right.
Okay. I have four hearts I can buy.
Um, let's stack the fives here. [clears throat]
Excuse me. Um, oh, that's a duplicate. Creative work. So, that goes there. and fashion sense. Okay, Steve's turn.
Okay. Uh one die a one.
I don't have a blue one or a red one.
I don't have a one.
You don't have any one.
Uh
all you can do is buy.
Okay. So buy two, four, six. I have a six again. Uh I want
It's a race, so you got to remember. So I did it. You might want to do it, too.
Or you can go cheaper and get the friends. Oh, you have to have a house to have a friends, right? It's like you gain this card attached to one of your life cards.
Yeah, it just makes one of your other cards a duplicate.
Okay.
No. So, you got to put it under one of your onto one of your cards.
Oh, one of these cards.
Yeah.
I thought it was going to be one of these cards.
No.
Okay.
You're choosing which card you're going to duplicate.
Okay. I'll duplicate this one. kind of probably do it like
uh
this so you can see that you have a point and you're going to double up that card.
Okay.
Uh so that cost me how much?
Uh four.
Now there's no hole so we don't refill.
Okay. I'll go one again. A four. So I'm getting two hearts.
Oh, what do I get?
Not bad. Okay. Uh
one, two, three, four, five, $6. I am going to get a professional license.
A six.
Nothing for me. Nothing for you.
Uh, but I can still buy something.
Yeah, if you
I think we missed a step. If you get no hearts, I believe you still get one heart.
Oh, yeah. Oh, no. I think it's if you if you have no heart, you get a heart.
I think so. Yeah. I'm just trying to remember what the rule was.
Yeah. If you have no hearts, you'll get one heart.
Okay. I'm going to buy for two. I'm going to buy fashion sense. So, a double die. And does this triple it?
Yep.
Okay, good.
Junk food. Okay, one die, a five. So, my junk food triggers for a one
and then my faction sense triggers for three.
So, uh
uh nothing because only the blue and reds
are on my turn.
Oh, here. Um, okay. I'm going to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. I can start getting the big guys. They don't seem that useful. Is there a restriction to buying cards? Like, I don't understand why you would ever want to buy these cards for each copy you have of the card you have the most of.
I guess that's when you have multiple cards. So,
yeah, I know. I'm like wondering why you would uh ever buy these 7 to 12 cards. They're expensive. And yeah, unless specified, you can have several copies of the card. They stack. Yeah. Okay. Um I'll get a home instead. So that means I'm stealing two hearts from you.
Two hearts from me. Yeah, because there's two homes in play. One, two, three, four, five, six. When you gain this, gain from all players as many hearts as there are homes in play, including this. So, I'm getting two hearts from you.
I don't have any hearts. You give you
good. Well, then I'm not buying that right now.
That's a dumb move. One, two, three, four, five, six. Instead, I will buy a friend.
One, two. There we go.
Four.
Oh, it's
And I will
a luxury card. your income.
My friends are going to increase my junk food
increases by one.
Actually, no. I'm going to increase
my fashion sense. I got really fashionable friends.
My turn.
Yeah. What was the new one? A luxury car.
Luxury car.
Income from travel is increased.
Travel travel.
It'll be a name of a card. We don't have one yet.
Three. Oh, I have a three. Take one. from.
That's only on your opponent's turn. I have to roll a three. Oh,
okay. Uh, nope.
You're just looking at your blues and greens.
Okay. Nothing for me. Okay.
Okay. And you have no hearts, so you get a heart.
Yay.
You can buy There's one heart cards.
All right.
This is also a free card.
Oh. Uh, I think I wanted uh
these are cool.
Oh, I think I'm going to take this one.
Clicky acrylics.
Okay, I'm going to gain this one a four. four. One, two, three. Four. Okay. So, that
another prank
and a professional license. A one.
Nothing.
Nobody has any.
You're only looking at your red blues when I roll.
Okay. So, I will take another professional license then
for one. Uh, we got a new gym.
All right. And six. I don't think we have any sixes.
No.
Uh, broke again.
Broke again.
Oh, and I have an opportunity.
Yep. Three. One, two. Uh, by um Wait, I will I take gem for a four. There we go.
Bitcoin
two.
Okay,
that hits you. You get a dollar.
I get a dollar.
I rolled a two.
Oh, two. And then here,
just your blues and reds on my turn.
And then I do. Excuse me. I got more junk food. We market take one heart from the active player when you roll threes. Oh, interesting.
Should get some of these. Oh, I have that one, too.
My turn. Uh, four. Uh, gain a heart on anyone's turn.
Mhm.
Okay.
I'm going to get two and then gain three on your turn only. One, two, three. And now I have opportunity to buy. Uh, or oh, are you going to buy luxury vehicle
with my
aer
two
two get a a two
a dollar.
Okay, I'm not going to buy anything. Okay, and six. Nobody gets anything. N buy anything we're going to buy anything. Um take this preview of those. All right.
How much did it cost? Zero.
Zero.
Another cafe. Another flea market supporting your idol. Okay. Two.
Two. Okay. I get uh turn on anyone's turn. Okay. I guess one here. Uh
I'm going to take the uh supporting your idol
because it's free. And now they're supporting your idol. Your turn.
All right. Um, come on. Two, five.
Okay. So, I get three. I get nine. Three. Three and three, right?
Yeah. When is the bottom one thing again?
Uh, when you gain this gain one from the dark card.
No. So, you're getting one card.
So, I get three, six, seven.
So, I get seven. Okay.
There's a five here.
Five, six, seven.
No, that's a 10.
Oh, that's a 10. Okay. Uh, 67 57. Now, now I can buy something. Five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. Uh,
Uh oh. I'm going to buy this.
Isn't that eight?
Uh, yes. Five, six, seven, eight.
Try it again.
Gain two hearts each time. travelers for another player. Do any travel?
Private jet. No,
I think those these are triggering off of cards that are in here. So,
okay. For any point,
one that gives me a big fat nothing.
I have nothing for me either.
I'm going to buy now. You have hearts. I'm going to steal them. Put the home.
Oh, I have one.
One, two, three, four, five, six. And then I take two hearts from you.
Two hearts from me
because of the home.
All right. All right.
Can only play one home. So, we're all out of homes.
Child at the turn. Okay. My turn.
Mhm.
Choose. Oh, what?
Nothing.
Nothing. Uh, you're broke. You get a dollar. I get a dollar and I could buy something for a dollar or less. Oh, I already have, don't I? Yeah. Okay.
active player.
So if you roll a three, I can take two from you.
Yeah, it's doubled up. Okay, your turn.
Three.
Good job. Give me three. Yeah, give me two. Thank you.
I got nothing here. All right. Um, well, I'm also getting the flea market then if you roll the one. All right. Um, I roll three. Uh, what?
Give it back. Give me a Give me a coin.
Take one from active player. What?
All right. That that goes on my turn. I get the dollar for
you
cuz my flea market triggers. Red is on the other person's turn.
Blue is on everyone's turn.
Okay.
Green is on your turn.
Okay. So,
you have no green threes and no blue threes. So, you don't have anything.
All right. Now, what
you can buy.
I can buy something.
I'm going to buy this one. So, I have a one. Okay,
I did a one.
Yours does not trigger. I don't have a one.
Um, but I will buy a one as well.
Cost four.
That triggers for me. I
gain one on anyone's turn. Okay, that's that. And gain three on your turn only. Two. That gives me and
buy some friends. Oh, it's down here. I want to know what this toilet paper contains. This one, the creative work. It's a pencil.
Oh, it's Oh, it's a pencil. Oh, okay. So,
so when I rolled an 11 to 12, which is dumb because neither of us has been rolling two two dice.
Yeah.
These this entire row of cards makes zero sense.
Yeah. Okay. So, I got to take this. I need to take this before. No, take for one.
Yeah.
Okay. So, now I get four points of
If you roll,
if I roll a one, I get six.
Okay. I roll the six. I got nothing. You got nothing.
Nobody's got six yet. Okay.
Um,
I'm going to buy a six though
for free.
Your turn.
All right. Uh, okay. Four.
Gives me two hearts.
Gain one of these. No. And then I gain
three from that one.
Three more there. One, two, three. Uh, that gives me two, four, six, eight cards to buy.
You need three points.
Yeah,
that gives Yeah, you're going to be close to winning.
I'd rather buy this one. Uh, your income from flea market increases by one. Okay.
Okay, we got super models. Super five. One, two for that one.
Only,
three, and four for this one. One, two, three, four. Okay, we got to spend big. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
You be a supermodel.
Um, I'm going to be a a top creator.
Top creator. I think so.
Two, three, four, five.
Two, four, five, six,
seven. You're one point away. Three star review
increases your income from a cafe.
Come on.
Roll a five.
Come on. Five or four. Four. I get two.
Okay. So, I get gain one turn and gain three. two, three. Okay. And so I can buy a partner for one. Gives me eight points.
Steve wins. That's the game.
Wins.
Steve wins.
Yeah. So we didn't
Yeah. This entire row of cards is pretty useless.
Doesn't make any sense.
What else?
Um
what else is in here?
Oh, you know what? You know what? It does make sense, but when you're paying with four or five people and you run out of this row,
yes,
that's going to make sense.
But
gain two on someone else's turn, gain one. See, every every blue card in this should be at least two or three hearts. There we go. Three hearts. One heart.
One heart. Yeah, I think each one. There we go. Three hearts.
There. I think every single blue card in here should have been at least two hearts, not one heart.
So that it's useful to go in here.
Yeah.
Two hearts. Two hearts. Yeah, these need to give you way more hearts than these do because these trigger way more often. These aren't going to trigger as often. So, it should give you a lot more hearts.
Yeah, but like I said, once you run out of this row,
yeah,
you got you got to use these.
You're Yeah, that's why I was looking if there was any two-player specific changes, but there's not.
Yeah. Oh. Uh,
they're sorted by their backs.
One, two, six, one. 26 one six good
to six. Oh yeah, these are all win six because we didn't play the 12 games. Maybe play this again with a bigger group of people and uh see where it goes.
That's a good insert. Uh except it doesn't give you up these guys.
Oh yeah, there's there's holes on the bottom of there.
Oh. Oh, I see. But they're going to fall out. Near indeed.
There's more. There's more. There's more chance.
You know,
in there.
Oh, I thought you want to put all the others together.
No, but there's not enough space to put them all together.
Oh, okay.
